What a fun week we had!  Caroline and I tagged along with some friends for an outing at the zoo.
We started in the butterfly house:

Caroline and Lucas touching Tiger fur.

Caroline decided that she was going to be our navigator for the day :)

Lucas getting in on the action....

Our favorite exhibit is always the polar bears and seals. No polar bears that day but the seals
were swimming all around.

Learning all about polar bears.

Today we went strawbery picking with Jaclyn, Mia and Drake. It rained. But we forged on and had a blast!  Suprisingly, they put more berries in their baskets than in their tummys :)
Getting started...

Caroline and Mia

Drake loved it too!

Still at it...

I guess I should explain this hat.  Connor found it in the trunk. I'm not sure where it came from???
Anyway, it helped with the rain and makes for a funny little picture :)

How gorgeous are these strawberries!!!

The kids were so excited when they saw all the other things that we could come and pick. I think we'll try cherries and peaches next month! Maybe we could even convince Nana and Papa that this would be a fun thing to do on one day of their visit????

Officially ready for Kindergarten! On Friday we went for Caroline's Kindergarten check-up.
She had to get 2 shots (one in each arm) and she handled it like a champ :)
Here she is showing off her band-aids.

Friday was also Connor's last day of school--hooray!
As a special treat we had lunch at McDonalds.

And this is how we spent the first day of summer vacation. On the couch with a "bucket".

The end of the school year isn't what it used to be :)  This year is coming to an end with lots and lots
of tests.  Connor has been studying for his big social studies test since Saturday and boy did his hard work pay off!  I thought that a perfect test score deserved a special treat...

He also came home with this today.  I love it!!!!  They were studying Pablo Picaso in art class and had to draw their own abstract. I asked him if it would be ok if I framed it and he thought that would be a really good idea.  Now we just need to find a perfect place for it to hang.

Of course Caroline needed to sneak in here too.  She saw that I was taking a picture of Connor's artwork so she made sure that I got a picture of her art too. "You know Mom, I AM an artist..."  Oh yes, who doesn't love marker on velvet?  (And yes, the princess is grey.  Apparantly that is the closest color to "skin color" when that marker goes missing.)

Caroline had her first eye exam yesterday and she came home with these!

Fun pictures from this afternoon:
Grandma got the kids a water game! Perfect for a 96 degree day :)

Even Dad got in on the action.

Connor snapped a few pictures as well!

Beautiful view today of the lake

I love this picture...how handsome is my guy? Connor won first place at field day yesterday for running the track!!

Very typical....Caroline + sunshine + water = an afternoon siesta ;)
Guess what I learned today?  A banana slurpee tastes JUST like banana laffy taffy!!  yum-o.

Memorial Day Weekend

We had a beautiful and fun-filled Memorial Day Weekend :)  Grandpa opened up the boat!  I'm not sure who is more excited?

We took the kids (and William) to Metro Beach yesterday so they could play up at the splash park.

Connor made me a present.....are these earrings just lovely? Grandma and Caroline each got a pair too....Best Grandma and Best Sister.  Can't you just feel the love?

Today was Connor's 4th grade wax museum.  Here he is as Henry Ford :)  He did a fantastic job memorizing and delivering his speech! I asked him how many people cane to listen to his presentation he told he "Well, I don't really know..I never really counted...."  I didn't count either but there was always someone standing and listening whenever I looked over.  There was also a very giggly group of girls at one point and one girl was giving the other girl "the elbow" the whole time he was talking--ha! (Everyone loves a guy in a suit.  Especially a suit two sizes too big accessorized with Grandpa's tie!!)

Grandma came too!  Here she is listening to Connor's speech.

And here is my sassy girl.  I took her to the eye Dr. today and it looks like she'll be getting some glasses soon. So far, she seems totally unfazed by the idea but we'll see....
